On the afternoon of September 26, the opening ceremony of the 2019 China Changzhou International Forum on Science and Technology & Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation was held at the Administration Center.

Mayor Ding Chun hosted the opening ceremony. Party Secretary Wang Quan delivered a Speech. The guest speakers at the ceremony include Lee Se-wook, General Manager of BEST (Jiangsu) Technology, Alfred W K Chan, Managing Director of the Hong Kong and China Gas, Masahide Watanabe, General Manager of Sumitomo Electric Wintec (Changzhou) and Lorenzo Palombi, General Manager of SPAL Automotive (Changzhou).

Wang Quan said in his speech that the forum, since its first session in 2005, has gathered many outstanding entrepreneurs, experts, scholars and friends both at home and abroad, and witnessed the establishment and development of many good projects in Changzhou. Opening up is the only way to growth and prosperity. Changzhou is committed to attracting and nurturing international companies that are capable of allocating resources worldwide. Going forward, Changzhou will build itself into an open and innovative city with relatively strong competitive edge and influence in the global arena, as well as an international city that is diverse, inclusive, livable and pro-business.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. With the theme of ‘Focusing on high-quality opening up, building an international city together,’ the forum aims at keeping up with the program of the ‘Year for Launching Major Projects’ and attaches great importance to the development of ‘Ten Major Industrial Chains’ and modern service industry. The purpose is to accelerate the accumulation of capital, technology and talent, promote project investment, support enterprise transformation, speed up internationalization, promote the high-quality development of Changzhou and strive to enhance the city's international reputation and influence. The forum will host 60 special events, including project signing, groundbreaking and completion ceremonies, promotion seminars and forum summits.
