The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has recently released its “2024 5G Factory List,” highlighting 400 5G factory projects across 39 industries. Jiangsu province led the nation with 113 selected projects, reflecting the province’s strong leadership in the 5G and smart manufacturing sectors.
Changzhou, along with Wuxi, ranked among the top 20 cities with impressive representation on the national list. The city’s growing technological infrastructure and forward-looking industrial strategies have made it a key player in Jiangsu’s 5G rollout. Changzhou continues to integrate 5G technology into its manufacturing sector, advancing the “5G + Industrial Internet” model to enhance operational efficiency and innovation.
Jiangsu’s overall performance in 5G development is also noteworthy. By the end of October, the province had installed 46,000 new 5G base stations, bringing the total to 290,000. With over 1.76 million 10G PON ports, Jiangsu ranks second in the country in terms of 5G infrastructure.
The province is increasingly focusing on integrating 5G with industrial applications, with 1,424 “5G + Industrial Internet” integration projects currently underway. Jiangsu has set up 415 provincial-level 5G factories, and 210 enterprises have made it to the national 5G factory list, accounting for one-third of the nation’s total. This positions Jiangsu as a national leader in the push for smart manufacturing and the industrial internet.
Changzhou’s selection as a key city for 5G factory development highlights the city’s growing role in China’s tech-driven industrial transformation, further solidifying its status as a hub for cutting-edge manufacturing technologies.
